We are delighted to add a new legacy addition to our lists for Granville’s Wood, a hotel for bees! It can also double up for other bugs.
They are being offered in three different sizes, to add a new dimension to the woodland eco system, particularly to support solitary bees.
Solitary bees are struggling due to increased use of pesticides and reduced habitats. You can help identify them using this great post from The Wildlife Trusts.
Our bee hotels are made by a local business in Midlands, a CIC that employs staff with additional needs who may find it hard to work in other settings. We felt they aligned with our values, for these reasons:
- Made in the UK
- People with autism and learning disabilities help to make their products.
- Stain and Colours are EN certified Safe for Nature
- Canes and Logs are all glued using a water-based PVA to prevent spillages as the parts dry out.

Every addition to the woodland enhances the habitat both for people and the planet. We strive to create a space that is welcoming and still wild. On occasion an area may already have too many of one legacy item and we will suggest alternatives. This may also be the case with tree choices, for them to thrive we need to make sure they are the right tree in the right place.
